Just for Today: Do Not Anger.

Consider the times you’ve been angry. What were the outcomes? Did you get what you wanted? Did you change anyone’s mind? Did you feel better? Did that day become your perfect day? Probably not.


In anger you believe you have some sense of control over someone or authority that must be expressed. In reality, nothing you say in anger will improve any situation or person. It’s an emotion that only destroys: friendships, your health, dignity, professionalism, love…


I’ve lost friends and family members due to ugly words spoken in the heat of the moment. I believed I was entitled to be heard. I thought I was more "right" than they were, ignoring the other person’s life experiences or their own right to be heard. Even if I am able to regain those friendships, or have family forgive me, the relationships will never be the same. Trust is lost. The sound of angry words reverberates long after spoken. It takes a strong soul to forget.
