Just for today: Be Compassionate to Yourself and Others

As I've mentioned before, the precepts are a gift from Mikao Usui to help us in our journey and meditative practices. If we focus each day on one of the precepts and put it into practice we will find our way back to our true self.

In considering Be Compassionate to Yourself and Others, #Usui Sensei knew that before we can be compassionate towards others we have to practice self compassion. As we #meditate on what compassion and self compassion mean to us we begin to comprehend that to practice compassion we need to let go of many thoughts, actions, and negative energies that have become almost second nature to us. Working toward self compassion then becomes a journey in itself.

To be #compassionate to self, let go of ideas or need for perfection. Start today and listen to your negative self talk. Just for today, ask if the self talk is really true (as an example: Are you in fact "an idiot"?) It may seem just something you say when you're disappointed in an action of yours, but your subconscious mind is listening and it's replaying that over and over in your mind, chipping away at your self worth and playing havoc with your self care efforts. For today, allow yourself to find your true expressions. Live each day more easier on you...then go out and be the amazing compassionate person you are to others!
